Verkhoturye is the center of Orthodoxy in the Urals and one of the oldest cities in Russia. Alexey Efremov depicts Verkhoturye in its glory, as it used to be in the distant past. In his paintings, the artist demonstrates the grandeur of the Verkhoturye Kremlin, built back in 1966 by decree of Peter the Great. The silhouettes of Verkhoturye churches appear in Efremov's paintings in a frosty haze or hidden in the golden branches of autumn trees. Cozy wooden houses and village streets complement the atmosphere of the old town. Every time the artist discovers something new when he returns to the old town of Verkhoturye. Alexey Efremov perfectly conveys the beauty of Verkhoturye at different seasons and manages to create a timeless image of the oldest town in the Sverdlovsk region, known for its rich history and architectural monuments.
